The Round Recognition Award Winners 2022

Celebrating all things annual reports and accounts

Kerry Round’s office bookshelves are packed full of annual reports and accounts. We kid you not. She loves nothing more than thumbing the glossy pages and considers it a treat in doing so. So much so that we hold an annual awards ceremony every year to celebrate them.

Kerry Round has taken the time to peruse all of the 2022 award submissions — she says, “I can’t lie, with my day job to cover as well it often seems like a daunting task to do the awards justice and then I get my judges hat on and instantly remember why I run the Round Recognition Awards—to celebrate this type of work in our industry. The calibre of entries this year has been outstanding, so thank you to everyone who sent me submissions. It’s over for another year. Go and grab yourself a glass of something fizzy.”

Introducing our 2022 award-winning annual reports and accounts

Congratulations to all of our winners this year. Here they are:

On The Go Ahead Group plc

Kerry says, “The S172(1) statement and supporting sections are notoriously tricky and this report tackles them using case studies describing how stakeholders were considered. The final flourish for me is the Remuneration at a Glance section, such a simple page concept but it goes a long way in making a difficult section a lot more palatable! A methodical report with a clear identity. A worthy winner!”

On United Utilities Group PLC

Kerry says, “for those of you looking for an example of a joint CEO/Chair statement with unashamed stakeholder focus from the get go, then this is the report for you. With comprehensive and clear coverage of sustainability and climate change, a riveting risk section and an open account of diversity and inclusion, this Annual Report does not disappoint!”

On Howdens Joinery Group Plc

Kerry says, “this report isn’t all style and no substance - it’s carefully thought out and packs a punch. I particularly like the principal risk and uncertainties infographics—not an easy section to bring to life. The sustainability section reads like a children’s story board (a good one) and I like the colour shift as the report moves towards the terribly serious Governance section. I also love the 2018 UK Corporate Governance Code: application and compliance spreads. Bravo.”

On Legal & General Group Plc

Kerry says, “The L&G team have used a clear hierarchy of information, straightforward design and unrelenting focus to get their message across. The design accentuates the disclosures and altogether makes it a more enjoyable read. A worthy winner and a beautiful addition to the Round House Report and Accounts library.
